1985, Cuyahoga National Park, Ohio: Hikers Document Tree Arches

Bryan Rossington and Gary Lester were hiking in the Cuyahoga park when they noticed something odd with the a lot of the tree branches.

There appeared to be a pattern to the way various tree branches were aligned. It looked like the branches had been intentionally bent into arches. Rossington and Lester followed the arches for nearly a mile as it wove in and out of the forest. They counted nearly 150 arches in the trees.

Rossington postulated that the arches were made by art students, while Lester was convinced that the arches were made by Bigfoot. But then Lester always thought everything was made by Bigfoot.

1983, Little Belt Mountains, Wyoming: Hikers Chased by Wild Bigfoot

Becky and William McRoberts had spent the day hiking around the Little Belt Mountains area in Wyoming. They came upon a particularly dense area of the woods. Becky noticed the slight tempeture drop and asked William if they could backtrack out of the area. After looking at his map, William decided that they should keep pressing forward since there was a road less than half a mile away.

About five minutes after this conversation the McRoberts heard some rustling behind them. Then they heard tree knocking, followed by a mournful howl. Becky became quiet alarmed, but William assured her to keep going. Soon enough though the noises seemed to be coming from in front of the couple, instead of behind them.

Becky begged William to stop so they could get a bearing on where the sounds were coming from, but he refused. As they stood arguing about it, a large Bigfoot stepped into view about 20 yards away. The couple described it as over 9 feet tall, orange in color, and with the most yellow eyes possible. It smelled like fish and body odor.

When the Bigfoot waved at them, Becky screamed and ran away. William took a second to figure out what was happening and followed her. For the next twenty minutes or so the Bigfoot chased the couple through the woods. Just when they would stop to catch their breath, the creature would pop up and growl at them. This scared them into running again.

Eventually, the couple got away from the monster. Or more likely the Bigfoot grew bored with its little game. The McRoberts consider themselves very lucky to be alive.

1954, Cumberland Gap, Kentucky: Children See Bigfoot Digging in Mud

Slim Ian and his two brothers, Mark and Dickey Ian, were playing around some trees in Cumberland Gap. Their parents were back near the car listening to the radio. The boys were throwing pine cones at each other and whipping each other with branches. Slim stopped short as the pine cone Dickey threw at him bounced off the back of his head. Instead of turning to fight, Slim just stood there as in a daze.

It was when Dickey and Mark ran up to Slim’s side that they understood Slim’s lack of reaction. About twenty five feet from where the brothers stood was a Bigfoot digging in the mud. The Bigfoot’s hands grabbed a huge pile of mud and then flung it into the air, high over the boys heads. Dickey, being the youngest, started to scream. The Bigfoot glanced over at the trio, which was enough to send all three brothers running away in tears.

When they arrived at the car, all three were out of breath, panting, and flushed. Their father laughed at them thinking they scared themselves somehow. It was only later that night that Dickey was able to tell his mother the tale of the digging monster. His two brothers would not talk about what they saw, so their mother assumed it was a backwoods hill person that scared her sons. And that just made her mad.

1993, Mohican State Park, Ohio: Man Sees Bigfoot Drinking in Waterfalls

While hiking the two mile loop in Mohican Park, Eddie Fricks stopped at the top of Clear Fork Gorge. While sitting for a minute and watching the low flow falls of Big Lyons Falls, Fricks saw a human-like figure emerge from the shadows. 80 feet below him, Fricks could make out the matted brown hair, the large bulbous nose, and the massive bare feet of a Bigfoot.

The creature did not see him or did not care enough to acknowledge Fricks. It went up to the small stream of water falling from the top of the Gorge. It stood directly under the falls and with its head back began gulping down the water. Fricks could see the rows of massive, sharp teeth and the enlarged red tongue as the creature lapped at the water hitting its face.

Fricks sat in place, too frightened to move he admits willingly, watching the Bigfoot until it slowly ambled away. Once Fricks was certain it left the area, he got up and walked briskly the rest of the way back to safety.

1980, Monroe Lake, Indiana: Boater Sees Bigfoot

Tim Aptney and Dan Scoots were boating on Lake Monroe in the early afternoon. The day was overcast and there were not many people around for the time of day.

Scoots was surprised when he saw a huge figure on the shore’s embankment. He pointed the large beast out to Aptney, who told him to leave it alone. Most likely kids fooling around. By Scoots started yelling and waving and trying to get the large figure’s attention.

When the figure turned to look toward the boat, both men were shocked by the face of the figure. It was clearly an ape-like monster. A Bigfoot for sure. It was hairy and clung to some outgrowth with massive hands. It howled at the boaters. Scoots expressed his dismay, while Aptney turned on the engine and tried to steer the boat toward the opposite direction.

The creature hooted and hollered for sometime after the boat was well out of sight of it. Both men agreed never to talk about the experience, but Scoots immediately told everyone he knew. Aptney when pressed would confirm the story’s truth.

1977, Log Mountain, Tennessee: Hiker Sees Sleeping Bigfoot

Sam Thompson was hiking around the Log Mountain area in Tennessee. He stopped to tie his shoe and noticed a big black mass in the bushes about 500 yards from where he stopped. Thompson first thought it was a pile of leaves on a dead tree, but when the black mass shifted position, he feared it was a large animal, possibly a bear.

Thompson knelt there very still. He watched as the black mass repositioned itself. When it settled down, Thompson could make out gigantic feet and a large hairy head. Immediately he knew he was looking at a napping Bigfoot.

Upon his realization, Thompson high tailed it out of the area, fearing that he might waken it and become the object of its sleepy wrath.

When Thompson returned to the spot with some friends, they found a distinct impression in the undergrowth. Clearly, something large had lain there recently.
